Rhode Island State Gambling Law

In the state of Rhode Island the penal code 11.19.1 outlines the laws that all residents of Rhode Island must adhere to when it comes to any and all gambling endeavors.   According to Rhode Island law, residents of Rhode Island can enjoy pair mutuel betting endeavor legally, as well as on track pari mutuel dog racing within the cities of Lincoln, West Greenwich, and Burrillville where the law permits such wagering endeavors.  Gambling sites offering casino gaming are not permissible in Rhode Island at this time.  Will Rhode Island ever allow casinos to operate in the state?  If one considers the state’s motto of “hope,” it is possible that one day lawmakers will make gambling establishments legalized, and Rhode Island residents can certainly hope for the day when game diversity is offered in the state.

While there is a location identified as the Newport Grand in Rhode Island, the site only offers racebook wagering and video terminal lottery options which are legal in Rhode Island State.  Gamblers might be able to get in on bingo games and/or raffle events held in elderly citizen housing or being hosted by charity organizations.  Government lottery offerings are also permitted within the boundaries of “The Ocean State,” but for gambling hopefuls seeking out the Vegas style gaming they are so fond of, there really isn’t anything land or water based that will present gaming options to the residents of Rhode Island.  The bottom line is that a Rhode Island resident must travel to nearby states where gambling is legal in order to enjoy a few games and a couple hours of gambling entertainment.

While many Rhode Island residents are praying that “The Ocean State,” will start going with the flow of modern times and present access to an “ocean” full of gambling diversity, it doesn’t appear that laws will be changed any time in the near future.  However, there are still other gambling outlets that Rhode Island residents can turn to in order to get in on the gaming action.  Right now, there are no laws banning the practice of Internet gambling for the Rhode Island resident.  Slots, table games, dice games, lotteries, video poker, and tournaments can be enjoyed online and the Rhode Island resident does not have to feel pressured to travel just to enjoy some great gambling options.  Bonuses and loyal playing incentives make Internet gaming options even more enticing, and ensure that the Rhode Island resident is getting the best gambling experience possible.
