North Carolina Gambling Law

The North Carolina penal code 14.289 explains the existing gambling laws in the state.  In “The Tar Heel State,” horse and dog race wagering is completely banned and is not a permissible practice.  Casino gambling establishments too, are not permissible within the state of North Carolina unless they are owned and operated by Native American peoples.  It seems that “The Tar Heel State,” certainly has it’s “heels stuck in the tar,” and the state doesn’t appear to be moving forward in terms of repealing the strict gambling laws currently in place.

North Carolina residents can certainly visit the two individual Native American gambling sites currently operated by the Cherokee tribe.  The sites in existence are currently fixed in the city of Cherokee, North Carolina.  The Cherokee Tribal Bingo Parlor offers only Bingo options, while the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino offers gamblers access to a few select video gaming options and a couple of table gaming options.  Currently, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is seriously reflecting on the idea of establishing a third casino gambling establishment, but as of August 2008, the site has not yet been selected.  The facility would be a Class II gambling establishment, and would offers gaming options strikingly similar to the offers made from the two existing gambling sites in North Carolina already.  This may be promising since it will afford the Native American peoples more job openings, but in terms of gaming diversity, gamblers can do better.

Aside for the two gambling establishments in North Carolina, the residents of “The Tar Heel State,” can check out some of the latest online virtual casino offerings presented to gambling hopefuls that would prefer not to have to travel to a casino to enjoy one.  A single online destination gives a resident living in North Carolina the chance to play games offered on the Vegas and Atlantic City strips without tacking on the Vegas and Atlantic City price tags.  There is no need for plane tickets, bus tickets, train tickets, or rental cars; North Carolina residents do not have to save enough money to get enough gas to get to the greatest casino gambling offerings available either.  Packing clothes and pre-planning a gambling vacation seems like an awful lot of unneeded work when all a gambling hopeful wants is to be entertained.  The money a North Carolina resident might use on travel can be legally used in a virtual casino setting without facing legal ramifications or repercussions.
