New Mexico State Gambling Law

In New Mexico, the penal code 30.19.1 regulates any and all gaming and gambling within the state.  In the state otherwise known as “The Land of Enchantment,” pari mutuel wagering has been legalized by the state, but any and all gambling establishments that are not owned by Native American peoples are illegal to operate.  No one in the state of New Mexico can allow their location to be used for any form of gambling, and games of chance and/or skill have been banned.  Further, under aged individuals cannot legally play bingo in the state of New Mexico.  Currently, there is no ban in place on playing games offered via Internet gambling services.

Throughout “The Land of Enchantment,” there are a total of twenty one casino gambling establishments.  Surely this figure is “enchanting” to the gambling aficionado and the newbie gambler looking for destinations to hone their gambling skills.  Another casino is in the process of being erected in New Mexico’s, Churchrock, but has yet to be completed as of this date.  Many of the existing gambling establishments are in the areas of Santa Fe and Albuquerque, two very hot tourist destinations in New Mexico.  This means that the land based gambling establishments are used to draw tourists in, and it also means that the settings of the casinos are rather busy and filled with huge crowds on a regular basis.  If a New Mexico resident is not much on hectic scenes or tends to experience a bit of social anxiety, it may serve the player a bit better if he or she refrained from the frenzied casino scene and elected to partake in online gaming instead.

Online wagers come attached with some superb perks.  First of all, when a New Mexico player sits in a traditional gambling establishment, no one gives the player a bonus just for being there.  This is quite to the contrary when it comes to a player’s “arrival” in a virtual casino setting, where the player gets points and/or cash freely given to them for signing up to play a few games.  Percentages fluctuate depending upon the virtual casino making the offers to players, but some bonuses can be anything from 50 to 100 percent of one’s very first deposit.  New Mexico players enjoying online virtual gaming also come to find that subsequent deposits also earn the player hefty rewards for returning to the virtual setting to play even more gaming offers.
