Maryland State Gambling Laws

In the state presently known as “The Old Line State,” or otherwise more commonly known as the state of Maryland, it seems that some fairly “old lines” are still defining the existing gambling laws.  Penal code 27.240 allows for horse betting endeavors of every kind imaginable, but as far as any kind of casino establishment, the state of Maryland will not permit it!

Sure, there are several fine horse racing facilities in “The Old Line State.”  Horse race wager fans can head off to cities like Baltimore, Berline, Elkton, Fort Washington, Laurel,  and Timonium, to watch and bet on horse track races in one of eight establishments throughout the state of Maryland.  Slots are not something one can readily get access to in Maryland, despite the fact that there are many slots fans and advocates for the introduction of the games into Maryland’s offerings.  No poker games, craps games, roulette games, Red Dog offers or Blackjack gaming is presented within the state’s limits, and there are no opportunities for gambling enthusiasts to try their hand a Tri card poker, Four card Poker, Pai Gow Poker, Caribbean Stud Poker, or any other amazing poker variations.  What is a gambler to do if he or she desires to play such games?

Travel, is evidently, one substitute.  Heading beyond “the old lines” that shape Maryland’s limits can lead gamblers into adjacent states that have the gambling events that they seek.  Yet, gambling when merged with travel options is indeed a costly option today.  Cruises, traveling by airplane and traveling by car are all forms of travel that are quite expensive and growing more expensive every single day that passes.  Aren’t there better options for Maryland gambling hopefuls?

Yes, gambling hopefuls will be happy to know that alternatives exist: online virtual casino settings.  Despite laws enacted to ban certain forms of gambling and online wagering endeavors for United States gambling hopefuls, these laws do not in any way affect the residents of “The Old Line State.”  In truth, the rigid, legal gambling lines craved into the sand don’t stretch far enough to ban online gambling options for the residents of Maryland: at least, not at this time.  Therefore, Maryland residents can safely play games from home for money, prizes, and jackpots.  Card games, dices, slots, video poker, and more are within reach for the Maryland gambling hopeful and all worries about having to pay for expensive traveling options can be happily and comfortably cast aside!
