Alaska State Gambling Law

Within the boundaries of Alaska various forms of gambling are completely prohibited by law.  Various land based casinos do not offer table gaming and slots machines because such devices have been entirely banned by Alaskan laws.  Horse racing and any off track betting is also illegal in the state of Alaska.  In all, there are six casinos and gambling locations fixed in the Alaskan State, but they are extremely limited in what they can offer gamblers in terms of gambling entertainment.  Very few games of popular interest are located in any of Alaskans brick and mortar casino establishments.

The Native Village Barrow Pull Tabs in Barrow, the Tlingit and Haida Indians of CBJ Bingo in Juneau, the Klawock IRA Smoke Shop in Klawock, the Sun'aq Tribal Bingo in Kodiak, the Metlakatla Indian Community Bingo situated in Metlakatla, and finally, the Sitka Tribal Bingo in Sitka are the only brick and mortar casino establishments in the entire state of Alaska.  What’s more, the latter casinos deliver pull tab and bingo entertainment options only, the only forms of gambling entertainment in Alaska existing at this time, and all are owned and fully operated by Native Americans on Native American reservations.

The gambler in Alaska would be hard pressed to find a brick and mortar casino offering a variety of table games or slots, and may have to venture outside the boarders of Alaska to get in on any gambling ventures in a physical casino setting.  While the Alaska state motto, “North to the Future,” is suggestive of progress, when it comes to permitting gambling endeavors within Alaskan boundaries, the state is anything but progressive.  Gamblers are strictly limited to forms of gambling that are clearly outlined in Alaskan legal statutes and the fines and penalties for breaking such laws can be quite severe.

The Internet has made it possible for Alaskan gamblers to gamble from home however, and there are still online virtual casinos and gambling sites that accept United States players.  There are no laws in Alaska that ban a player from engaging in online gambling pursuits.  With this notion in mind, many gamblers residing in the state considered “The Last Frontier” join an online casino as a member so that they can enjoy their favorite games and gambling endeavors whenever they want to.  Basically, the Internet serves as a “new frontier” where gamblers can have a little piece of casino excitement served up to them right in their own home.
